The german pilots were awesome indeed and there were many good "dogfights" but their poor performance towards the end of the war ultimately made it possible for the Allies to invade Europe. They also failed in the "Battle of Britain", despite having the RAF on it's knees. Herman Goering called off the attack. TakumProti @IEnjoyTalent Inglourious Basterds isn't supposed to be historically accurate. It's really just supposed to be a violent revenge fantasy action film akin to exploitation schlock like I Spit on Your Grave. Like other films such as Kill Bill, this movie only serves to give Tarantino a chance to indulge in his love of destruction and ultraviolence, same with his buddy Robert Rodriguez and his movies like Machete. IEnjoyTalent This movie has inaccuracies in it, like other Tarantino films, a german soldier who fought on 5 fronts, Georg Grossjohan can give us a more accurate of the US forces fighting in Europe: " The Americans were not very good soldiers, we did not even think of them as soldiers , it was the endless supplies and tanks and aircraft they had that ultimately won them the war. The german death squads behind the front lines named Einsatzgruppen had the objective of decapitating the leadership, religious and political in every town and city occupied by the Germans. The "other" objective was kept a secret at first but then was carried away in full view of everyone and often with the aid of the Wehrmacht.
